Artistes to Watch

Keznamdi

“This is not a choice or hobby for me, Music chose me. it’s a way of life and the only thing I have ever known,” explains a passionate Keznamdi, describing why his path has already been carved out in stone.

Keznamdi’s fate as a musician was inevitable, growing up with his parents who are lead singers of international reggae band—Chakula, touring the world and recording their 10 albums in the recording studio, located in his own home, buried in the lush St. Andrew hills of Jamaica.

Keznamdi ate, breathed and slept music. After countless nights falling asleep beside the strum of his fathers guitar, and hanging out back stage with his sisters at Reggae concerts, Kez already knew all the words to his parents’ songs at a very young age, bouncing perfectly on that infectious Reggae beat.

Not surprinsingly, Keznamdi recorded his first song at 5 years old—“Mix a Color”—an educational song about color mixing, inspired by his mother’s background in early childhood education at Harvard University. Already a natural and crowd pleaser on stage, he jumped at the opportunity to perform Mix a Color at his moms album release tours for her popular children’s album “Save the World” which became a viral hit in primary schools across Jamaica.

Kabaka Pyramid

Keron Salmon, known by his fans as Kabaka Pyramid, is an ever-evolving artist that has numerous ways of expressing his creativity. The ability to watch and learn from others around him has made him into somewhat of a Jack-of-all-trades. You can find him at Bebble Rock Studios, in his hometown Kingston, Jamaica, writing lyrics, producing tracks, engineering/recording himself or other artists, mixing songs, editing video/photos, or even learning to play the guitar! His passion for music began at early age when he would change the lyrics to popular songs and record his own version on his mother's tape recorder. What began as a humorous venture was actually a stepping stone for the artist we know today. Reggae music has always been a strong influence on the Kingstonian lyricist, but during high school it was Hip Hop music that captivated him, and you could find him walking to the canteen reciting his favorite Canibus or Inspectah Deck lines. The influence of both genres can be easily detected as he, and other Bebble Rock artists such as Koro-Fyah, seek to find the perfect fusion of the two cultural expressions.

Omari Banks

My music is reggae music.  My band's sound is influenced by many different artists across many different genres. But our sound, our passion, our foundation is reggae music.

I have been blessed to be part of a strong legacy in reggae music.  My dad, Bankie Banx, is a well known and respected reggae musician, and musicians like Cat Coore and Tony Ruption of Third World, Junior Jazz of Inner Circle and Benjy Myaz and so many other great reggae musicians have mentored me since I was a young boy.

Our fan support has been amazing, and I thank you for checking out my music.

Pentateuch

With Biblical references as the name of the band and their debut album title 'The Genesis', Pentateuch is one of the most spiritual of the young bands coming from the so-called Reggae Revival scene in Jamaica. 'The genesis' is full of militant and spiritual messages but the band is also showing  a very listenable approach with some pop sounds here and there in order to spread their issues to a wider audience.Their fresh sound is connected to the foundation through echoes of Rico Rodriguez and Bunny Wailer but the results are highly original. Pier Tosi's interview took place in a very spiritual place: on the front yard of Bob Marley's Museum at 56 Hope Road in Kingston. The lead singer Kevor Williams answered the questions in the presence of all the others band members, the drummer Brady "Jah Bradez" Robinson, bassist Andrew "Worm" Ayre, keyboardist Andrade "Dradi" Bowen and guitarist Garth "Duckie" Forester. After the reasoning the band invited Pier at the rehearsals at Bootcamp Studio in Harbor View, home of their mentor, the legendary producer Computer Paul Henton. Their next show at Jamnesia was being prepared and Paul as gave fruitful advice to the band while listening their sound in the room. - See more at: http://unitedreggae.com/articles/n1345/060213/interview-pentateuch#sthash.2T47kRI6.dpuf
